  • Looking Up
    Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Autopilot Off, originally named Cooter, but were sued by another band with the name Cooter? Which is really weird because you would never think anyone would come up with such a unique, and subtle moniker. But the case of “Who gets Cooter?” actually ended up in federal court, and Cooter eventually lost the rights to Cooter to the Mississippi band who owned the copyright to the name Cooter. Can’t make this shit up. So when A.D.D. put out the vinyl version of Looking Up, the name of the band changed to Autopilot Off shortly after the album was pressed up and shipped out. The band actually had stickers made of the new name that they slapped over Cooter on the jacket cover. I just wrote slapped Cooter and somehow it’s not offensive. But I digress, If you got one of these Frankenstein versions, send us a picture of it, not that, the record sicky, because we here at A.D.D. have actually never seen one? Again, the record. So this story of the sticker is more of an urban legend to us. And even though we did, we swear, originally put out the vinyl version, A.D.D. is not acknowledged for it on Wikipedia. Which is crazy because Wikipedia is right about everything! In the midst of their run in the late 90’s / early 2000’s, Autopilot Off played with popular bands such as MxPx, Goldfinger, Sum 41, Yellowcard and H2O. I said popular bands, not good bands, so keep it to yourself buddy. We choked down a warped tour or two to go see Autopilot Off play, and visit with the dudes, so it says something about them, and their brand of pop punk, and its infectiousness. Autopilot Off would later sign to Island Records, try not to get a Bono, where they would release their opus Make A Sound, which reached #119 on the Billboard charts. So yeah, A.D.D. played a small part in their history, and I’m totally lying because they don’t mention this anywhere on their Wikipedia page.
